What We Do
Yellow Arrow Publishing supports and inspires writers and artists identifying as women through publication and access to the literary arts. Women’s voices have historically been underrepresented in literature, and we aim to elevate those voices and stories through our programs and publications.
Creating diversity in the literary world is deeply important work. It is our belief that when we share our stories with each other, it creates a ripple effect of empathy, compassion, and understanding. We see creativity as an act of service, making this project not just about great literature, but about contributing to the collective voice in our community. It’s about saying, yes, we belong here, too.
It is our hope that providing more opportunities for women to participate in the literary arts will stimulate social change by expanding literary norms. For every writer who gets published, there are a hundred more with equally valuable stories to tell. We must share our voices so that our daughters, nieces, and little neighbor girls can read our stories and know that her individual lens is important. Expressing who we are and sharing our experience, strength, and hope, deepens the understanding of the human condition, allowing us all to better empathize with one another.
Storytelling Together
It takes diversity of thought, background, culture, and perspective to create an inclusive storytelling platform. Yellow Arrow supports women-identifying writers from a wide variety of backgrounds, not just because it’s the right thing to do, but because it makes us stronger. Our writers and readers come from all walks of life and so do we. We are taking steps across our portfolio to increase representation and give greater visibility to the voices of underrepresented women storytellers by continuing to expand themes for journal submissions, inviting diverse writers to submit their work, partnering with diverse outlets, and deepening inclusion on our board. We know there is more to be done and we commit to cultivating progress together.
Every writer has a story to tell and every story is worth telling.
Publications
Our publications include our biannual literary journal of creative nonfiction, poetry, and cover art, Yellow Arrow Journal, which represents voices worldwide. You can meet the authors monthly on our .Writers.on.Writing. web page, updated at the beginning of every month. We also publish several chapbooks each year and provide our chapbook authors with the support and tools to share their stories. Learn more about the authors here.

Programs
In our classes, workshops, and writers groups, we allow women to express themselves however they come to us by creating a safe space to be proud of their work, lives, and stories. Through our Writers-in-Residence program, we provide writers with collaborative opportunities to focus on their creative endeavors in a flexible, supportive environment.
